MJ Freeway - VP, Marketing & Strategic Insights

Jeannette Ward Horton is a strategic marketing and communications leader with 15 years of experience leading communications, marketing, and change management for large and small companies, including The Coca-Cola Company, The Home Depot, UPS, and now MJ Freeway, a software and data company serving the cannabis industry, the fastest growing industry in the U.S.

Jeannette’s role at MJ Freeway is Vice President of Marketing and Strategic Insights. MJ Freeway is the world’s largest cannabis technology company having tracked more than $13B in sales with clients in Australia, Canada, Chile, Columbia, Denmark, New Zealand, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, and the United States. Jeannette’s team harnesses the power of the cannabis industry’s largest POS data repository to deliver insights that inform industry decision makers, including cannabis industry forecasting and trendspotting. She also leads all product and brand marketing globally.

Because MJ Freeway also believes in building a better cannabis industry, Jeannette is also a founding board member of NuLeaf Project, a City of Portland-funded initiative to increase the number of successful cannabis businesses of color within Portland through capital grants and business coaching. Jeannette launched NuLeaf building upon her experience as founding Vice Chair of the Minority Cannabis Business Association, the only non-profit organization created to service the specific needs and interests of minority cannabis entrepreneurs, investors, and patients.

Jeannette’s prior roles at The Coca-Cola Company included a Sales and Marketing leadership role where she had responsibility for $9.2M of Coca-Cola product sales in 1,360 U.S. retail locations owning the complete in-store Coca-Cola brand experience, marketing communications, shopper messaging, pricing, SKU assortment, and merchandising. She also led internal data acquisition and management for The Coca-Cola Company’s North American marketing business. Before Coca-Cola, she led corporate communications functions for global audiences at The Home Depot and UPS.

Jeannette’s work has been featured in BusinessWeek and among Corporate Executive Board’s world-class best communications practices. Jeannette has a BA from Spelman College and an MA from Georgia State University.
