Executive Director, Clean Label Project
Jaclyn Bowen is the Executive Director of Clean Label Project focused on changing the definition of food and consumer product safety through data, science, and transparency. Under Bowen’s leadership, CLP conducted and published two of the largest studies on industrial and environmental contaminants in infant formula/baby food and pet food. In each study, CLP sampled and tested the top selling products, tested them for 150+ contaminants, and released the benchmarked results to consumers via a 5-star rating system at CleanLabelProject.org. Bowen and CLP have appeared on NBC, ABC, Fox News, CNN, ‘The Doctors’ and 450+ print and online media outlets including USA Today and Huff Post. Jaclyn recently conducted a study on the true contents of 208 of America's best selling CBD products- she revealed her high level findings as a testimony during the May FDA Public Hearing.
Before coming to the CLP, Jackie held numerous technical, standards development and food safety and quality leadership roles within the World Health Organization Collaborating Centre, NSF International. Bowen considers herself a food safety and quality systems engineer with her expertise in organic, gluten-free, Non-GMO Project and food safety certification, compliance and label claim substantiation.
Bowen holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Biology from Michigan State University, a Master of Public Health in Management and Policy from University of Michigan- Ann Arbor, a Master of Science in Quality from Eastern Michigan University, and a post-graduate certificate in Strategy & Innovation from MIT.
